Joshua Catania is a Connecticut-based pianist and composer. Joshua is regarded as a multi-faceted composer and improviser, and speaking of his music, Midwest Record writes “Catania is modern, classical, and so much more, often all at once.” Hailing from Wisconsin, Joshua’s musicianship was nurtured by local performers/educators at the Kettle Moraine School for Arts and Performance, the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra Jazz Studies program, and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music Jazz Institute. Springing out of his collaborations in the Midwest, Joshua released his debut recording “Open To Now” in 2019 under Shifting Paradigm Records with Dave Miller, John Christensen, and Devin Drobka.
Joshua decided to further his education at the University of Michigan, notably having studied with Andy Milne, Ellen Rowe, and Robert Hurst. Today, Joshua actively performs throughout the New England area while also sharing the gift of music as a teacher, author, and piano technician. He has had the privilege of sharing the stage with many prominent figures in the jazz world including Russ Johnson, Andrew Bishop, Brian Lynch, Devin Drobka, and Jonathan Barber.
